What does an evaluation consist of?
The diagnostic evaluation includes a battery of widely recognized tests used to identify a student’s academic strengths and weaknesses. The evaluation also includes a personal consultation in which a specialist will review the results of the tests and explain the processes of reading, spelling, comprehension, and writing as they apply to the individual student. This diagnostic service is offered independently, or can be used to craft a remediation program with realistic goals for the individual.

Is an evaluation necessary?
We look at every student as a unique person with strengths and weaknesses. We start the process of learning by administering a preliminary evaluation of approximately 10-15 standardized tests, depending on age and ability. This evaluation lasts between three and a half to four hours in length. Please let us know if your child has had another professional assessment administered as this may change the amount that we need to evaluate.
In the evaluation we test for:
Phonemic Awareness
Word Recognition
Reading Comprehension
Oral Directions
Written Expression
Word Attack
Spelling
Vocabulary
Listening Comprehension
Verbal Expression
